Resistance
The way my throat tightens, it feels like a noose. My eyes prick with the familiarity of tears. I bite my lip, my tongue, my cheek. All to stop the feelings. Resistance. I wrap around my neck, press into my esophagus, and cut the air. I dig my nails into the flesh of my palms. Draw the lines I swore to never try. Resistance. Red against a brown background, but it isn't true. Marker on flesh is what I've run into. Pull ot my hair, cut it short. Maybe one day I'll find my voice. Resistance. Resist the urge to scream, cry, and shout. Resist the urge to bring harm upon thy self. Resist. Resistance.
