Reruns
It was just yesterday I was just yesterday The TV screens In a soft black n white cast Dusty dials Neverending hours of fun The Reruns on Thursdays Common like microwave Ramen Slurping hot salty water Invoking talk shows in a foamy mouth Paternal interruptions Brief as porn entertainment All comes to a vanishing point: A mother's return in the nightfall. It was just yesterday My time vanished like my youth. I chew my expired gum with a youthful heart That catches the old reruns on Thursdays In moments where life beats softly in the background. Yesterday welcomes me.
