Reminiscence
There he sits atop his hill Reminiscing about the past Nothing he can change, Yet he says to me, "Young boy, never forget How beautiful it was to be a child To be so ignorant To have the world in your hands The everlasting warmth of your family, Your friends, Your old high school sweetheart I can't change it now, but if only I could, maybe she'd still be here with me Sitting atop our hill Reminiscing about our past" He leans over Kisses my forehead And falls asleep there in my arms Sending goosebumps down my spine Because now I know They can reminisce with each other Reminded of their years together Not far above my head
