Reflection
When I stare in the mirror I don't see me I see a mistake A fraud A failure When I see my reflection in passing cars I pause for a moment Shocked at who I see staring back at me When I stare at the mirror who is it I see Because how can that be a reflection of me The thing that stares back at me It has empty tired eyes And thin while lines on its arms and thighs And it's to chubby to be me To ugly I can't believe that that thing is a reflection of me My reflection used to dance and play with me It used to smile back and laugh It had long and pretty hair And clean baren arms And strong pretty legs It had happy eyes I loved my reflection But it didn't grow with me like it was supposed to It left me behind Or maybe I left it behind And somewhere on the way I found this thing This angry thing that glares back at me when I curse its existence This cruel and hateful thing that convinces me to draw more white strings on my arms Slowly sucking the life out of me How can this be a reflection of me
