Reflection
When they see us, a mirror reflecting strife, In our eyes, they glimpse the pain they've sown, The traps they've set, the thorns they've thrown. Our kin they sent to slavery's cruel domain, Our parents soaked in the relentless rain of pain. Their reign was one of torment and dread, Snatching our heritage, our "adire," Now when they see us, their hearts do ache, Acne of prejudice, recklessness awake. Their wound of hatred festers and grows, Yet, we're both dust, as the Lord's grace shows. Like Coke and Fanta's blend, Consumable souls, from the same dust, we ascend. Let them remember, as we take our stand, We're united in God's hand, across this land.
