red balloon
I released a red balloon into the sky Inside it was my past, and present and future All the anxiety of life, that id die If anyone paid the mind to comment The breath it took to inflate was past The air that that filled it is very present The person that would find it at last the future It was all there but the symbology I wanted it to mean someing profound And take the sky, the world around And rule up there for passers-by Staring at a canvas sky But it was pointless and precious Some might even say malicious I forgot what it meant to me So it means nothing to you If I could apologise for the breeze That blew it over to you The syllables here dont reach the trees Everything comes up short I released a red balloon into the sky If you found it im sorry love I know the contents wasnt enough To make you feel something and cry. Next time the baloon will be blue. It fits the contours of your smile Or maybe that isnt true But youll be happy for a while.
