Recurrence
I tend to forget small moments. I was never the one who remembers Words spoken out of anger Or who embraces first after reconciliation, But that night was different Because the scene is still so vivid to me And every night until today, It keeps playing on my mind Like a TV show that I can’t miss. You were standing at the almost-empty park, Head tilted, The light of the moon reflecting In your smiling face. I will never forget The way you look at me that night. “How lovely”, you said. But I was wearing plain shirt, Jelly shoes and denim pants. So, I blushed nervously As if we never had nights like that before. And we both know that meeting Was only borrowed, if not stolen Because the world didn’t like us to be together. We talked about our dreams, your plans, It was mostly you who did the talking And I just nodded in everything you said Because they were too much, Because you were too much for me. And I didn’t know what I did to deserve you. Still, I promised to keep you in my heart And you promised me you’ll wait, Us against the world. Too bad words guarantee nothing, Too bad distance can do so much, And the world is too powerful to defeat, So here I am, drunk on my regrets. ©reddragonfly⚘
