Reasons to Stay Alive
The way the sun shines on the lake Leaves crunching under our shoes Laughter of innocent children, Who only know the goodness of the world. Chords sending chills down our spines, As we disipher the meaning of a song. The ache of our cheeks, Earned from hours of pure laughter. The intricacies of human languages, And how we talk the way we talk. Comforting hugs and hot cocoa mugs With stupid puns that make us laugh. The wonder of the stars above on a clear night, And the chance of seeing a shooting star. The awe of stepping into a museum And just absorbing all of the histories Of those who came before. The rush of adrenaline you get When you step onto a stage Or right before a big concert. Water balloon fights in the heat of summer. The endless grains of sand Rubbing against your feet. Smores by firelight and scary stories Told by your friends overdramatically Waking up to see the next day And waking up to a dog or cat Just letting you know they care. So the next time you find yourself wondering: "Why should I keep living?" Just look at this list, and you'll find why.
