Ray
O golden beam, thou radiant king of day, Thy gilded breath doth wake the sleeping earth. With lustrous touch, thou chasest night away, And bid'st the morrow sing of life's rebirth. Thine eye, an orb of fire, through skies dost sweep, Enkindling the world in thine eternal blaze. Ancient thou art, yet still dost secrets keep Of eons past, and long-forgotten days. Thy rays dost pierce the veil of morning dew, And waken meads with verdant life anew. Thee I hail, O sol, with whispered praise, For in thy light, all time and truth dost blaze. Yet when thine ember sinks ‘neath twilight’s veil, The stars, thine ancient kin, in silence sail. But lo, O sun, thou shalt ascend again, To gild the world with glory once more, amen.
