The mind is a petty mirror It is a stark reflection of yourself It belittles you, shrinks you It blows you up with helium It flares up your pride It is your worst It is your best It is you as you change It is you when you stand still It is you as you see you But it is not as others truly see you It is the only thing that solely belongs to you But can also be everyone else’s It can leak out things you didn’t mean It can also be bundled up tight It can be a blank page It can be a vibrant painting It is you   The truth is a sad song bird Something you don’t want to believe Not gilded dreams Something you usually grieve It is all that it seems Reality is harsh Like a boggy marsh But the songbird flys Doesn’t let it get it down Its song never dies Don’t let yourself drown
