Rain's Relentless March
Paused for a moment, I looked around, Vision blurred in the lost-and-found. Thunder roared loud, lightning cut fast, A frightening storm that wouldn't pass. Standing with others in a crowded row, No mercy from the clouds above did show. Rain poured down with fierce intensity, The road ahead was lost in density. Umbrella in hand, bag on my back, Walking like I carried a cement sack. Legs frozen from the pelting rain, Missed the auto—who’s to blame? Is it the weather or man's refrain? Crossing roads as water splashed wide, Wishing I had a bike to ride. With helmet and raincoat on tight, Maybe then I'd fare the fight. Storming on, pants soaked through, Swampy water painting my formals anew. Clashing with the rain till I reached my door, Wet inside, outside—exhausted to the core. Sweating within, drenched outside, Was it a shower or just fate's sly tide? Admiring the rain from afar feels grand, But when it meets work time, it’s hard to stand.
