Quiet cheer
A year ago, I lived in gray, Each morning felt a price to pay. I couldn’t see beyond the ache, Or trust that joy was mine to take. But time moved on, and so did I, I found small stars in darker skies. Now laughter comes, not just pretend. I broke, I healed, I learned to mend. I’m not all there, not fully free, Some nights still press too hard on me. Being alone can still feel rough, But I’ve grown roots, I’m strong enough. So here I stand, a quiet cheer, For making it another year. Not perfect, no. but heart intact, And finally starting to want life back.
