Promise ♐
The sky weeps tonight, as if it knows, A thunderstorm echoes the pain that flows. I just received the news I feared, The voice I loved most is no longer here. You always told me, “Don’t waste your light,” Even when I resisted, blinded by my fight. Now I see the truth in what you said, And I feel the weight of words I wish I had heeded. I remember your laughter, soft and bright, The warmth of your hugs in the quiet night. The stories you told, the love in your eyes, A safe harbor under life’s stormy skies. You were fierce, you were gentle, you were me, Shaping the boy you wanted me to be. I regret the calls I left unanswered, The moments lost, now painfully remembered. Yet here I stand, your strong big boy, Carrying your love, your dreams, your joy. I’ll rise, I’ll fight, I’ll grow, I’ll strive, So from heaven, you’ll see me alive. And if the sky can speak, tonight it cries, For the bond between us that never dies. I promise, grandmother, I’ll honor your ways, And make you proud all of my days.
