Prisoner of Your War
You glare at me with judging eyes And an unforgiving look upon your face How am I to believe that this is love? When your actions clearly don't come from such a place? When my every effort is discredited and every action criticized Love, is clearly not the motive Or the factor in your drive. Your words they cut me like a knife and no bandaid can ever be found You leave my laying bleeding out Lifeless on the ground You've turned this marriage into a war our relationship is a battleground I'm on the verge of surrender I'd wave my white flag, if it could be found I do not have the strength to fight and whatever this is, it's not worth fighting for I didn't sign up or get drafted to fight you in this war I thought that we were on the same team I thought it was US against the world That you would be the one to carry me, if wounded, away from enemy lines I never saw you'd be my captor And your lies would be the ties that bind I feel like I am a prisoner MIA in your great war It isn't love you intend to preserve in this battle and I don't want to fight anymore So lock me away and throw away the key Let me die alone in dignity and peace or release and set me free...
