Pretending
They thought she liked school, Thought she liked to be alone. They believed every lie she told. She was a good pretender, they didn't know. They thought she was happy, innocent, Even after the fights, lessons they taught. They believed she wasn't close to distraught. She still loved them, they just weren't enough. A great game in their head, She played them like puppets. Stayed out of trouble, Slipped under their servalence. She pretended well, it was almost second nature. But that didn't mean she was bad. Her grades stayed high, she stayed clean. Always perfect in class, just quiet. Pretending just kept her safe from their thunder. The thunder that only hurt created her game, Thunder created silent pretending.
