Pretend
We walk this line of make-believe We're more than friends, it's plain to see. Yet we're too scared to set it free. We dance around the truth we fear, Yet it lingers, always near. We laugh and joke, like we always do, But my heart betrays me—it knows the truth. We walk the line between what's real, And what we're afraid to feel. I tell myself it's all a lie, That friendship's all we'll ever try. I'll replay this scene until the end, Wishing for courage to just pretend. I'll carry this regret till my final day, For the words I didn't dare to say. I know I'll rue these words I've said, Until I'm cold and lying dead.
