Polite Rejection
The words hang heavy, a silence descends, A polite refusal, where interest ends. No spark ignites, no flame starts to grow, A gentle decline, a quiet "no." A smile may flicker, a nod may be given, But the heart's not engaged, the spirit's not driven. A polite excuse, a courteous refrain, To avoid the entanglement, the unwanted pain. No fault is assigned, no blame is to bear, Just a simple truth, that's clear as the air. A un lack of connection, a path not aligned, Two souls diverging, on journeys defined. So let it be known, with grace and with ease, That this path we're on, is not meant to appease. A respectful distance, a space to be free, To follow our own paths, authentically.
