plague
I am the plague that breathes in the air, A shadow forgotten, yet always there. A curse in whispers, a stain on the skin, The world recoils from the darkness within. I walk where the light won’t dare to tread, Among the dying, among the dead. My hands drip sorrow, my heart bleeds rot, A burden I carry, but never forgot. Eyes that once saw me now turn away, I’m the weight they can’t cast astray. A broken hymn in a shattered song, Wearing the silence where I don’t belong. The bones beneath crack under the strain, Of wearing the mask that hides the pain. A living ghost, yet too alive to die, A plague to the world, with no tears to cry. What worth is a soul that festers in shame? A nameless disease with no one to blame. I linger, a poison no cure can mend, The plague on society that never will end.
