Pipe Dream
Pipe Dream by Jack A.S. Dunce On one hot summer day, my head just bled A reckoning for excesses of youth, Or legacy from my lineage's tread Whatever the case, my script got the boot The light returned in part but a good half was lost, it's the coin paid the boatman It took heart to restart the fate of someone star-crossed -- another spring time snowman Days wasted laying on the dais, doused profusely with a glut of cure-alls With pure luck, I snuck out the byways but got caught in the intricate pitfalls The deemed fault in the stars perhaps it's meant to be some sort of best-by date With appetites all in jars, what's left is but a body It's pipe dream to evade fate. ©️pgmr 06/11/2024
