Piano Tunes
The dream fulfills The image of the broken mirror— an infantile puffiness, a love-fest where my invitation fails to send. The last of my desires choking on a last attempt to save the tit of life. Love becomes separate from you. No piano tunes play for my emotional salvation. The loved ones turn their face away while the major scales run to their own moving song. The sounds fade away in my last longing. I don’t exist in the arms of yesterday. I shrivel to my ancient sadness— but I hold myself high. With heavy arms I lift myself and give life to my curving vertebrae, erecting a new posture in this standing. My mother is absent from the unmoving eye, and yet I discover myself— not alone, but accompanied by new eyes that are fastened with a tightness where no titan or mortal can remove.
