Peace of Mind🕊️
I once looked at my baby sister, Only nine — laughter pure, heart lighter, And I wondered in my quiet mind, Does she know these are her best times? The days she’ll dream of when she’s grown, Moments she’ll wish were never gone — Where life feels soft, like fairy wings, Where joy is found in little things. No judgment from the ones she loves, No heavy weight from friends above. Just lollipops and sweet delights, No sleepless fears through endless nights. But one day… the peace will fade, Childhood dreams begin to trade. For my teen sister, now halfway grown, Faces a world she’s never known. Her laughter dims, her thoughts turn deep, As childhood memories fall asleep. Dreams once bright now seem too small, And life feels like a trembling call. Books and pressure, endless fight, To make them proud, to get it right. The world can wound with words so cold, And peace of mind feels bought and sold. I thought perhaps it’s just my place — The eldest born must bear the race. But now I see what’s truly lost: Peace of mind — the sweetest cost. I had it once, pure and kind, Now it’s the thing I hope to find. By Amy. A
