Peace Beyond the Shore 🌊
It is not the same, this quiet I choose, Not a hollow silence, not an empty muse But a rhythm of wind, a hymn of the seas, A life in the stillness, where my spirit is free. On an island remote, my hands find their song, Tending to fields where the daylight is long. Cattle, sheep, and chickens near, Dogs and cats who guard with cheer. I cook by the cliffs where the ocean sighs, Waves crash below, and the breezes rise. Knee-tall grass becomes my bed, A bowl of rice, fresh herbs, butter spread. A single chicken, roasted slow, Olive oil glimmers, the embers glow. I’ll mend the roof when the storms insist, Rebuild the fences the winds have kissed. For gratitude grows where the labor is sown, And solitude blooms when the heart is its home. At night, when rain drums steady and deep, I curl with my dogs and my cats in sleep. By campfire’s warmth, the shadows bend, No loneliness here, just time to befriend. Or wide awake with the watchful flame, Protecting the flock, calling each by name. Chicken on sticks, firelight bright, The sheep, the dog, the cat all in sight. Far from the noise, the race, the demand, Here I belong, with earth in my hand. For solitude whispers what the city forgets: It is peace, not absence
