Peace
Peace. A word I was taught during my elementary years. Pure, calm, quiet. Peace. A child's scream stitched inside my ear, barely heard through a man's groans. Peace. A body found on the side of the road. Abandoned. A woman? A girl. Peace. Another gunshot. A normal day. And quite frankly, Mr. President, I don't get it. I don't get how you sit, on your throne of lies and deceit, Look at these facts and do nothing. So, I decided to approach it from your point of view, to sit on your throne, to see what you see. I try to find the peace in this darkness But all I see is my reflection in the mirror. A reflection of rapists, the blood on my hands from the murdered, I hear the cries and screams of the children, Our youth. Our future. Our world. In shreds. All because you, President, found peace in the darkness.
