patiently awaiting
I sit in the waiting room anxiety takes over millions of smiles and laughter around eyes I wait patient in a line meant to be just for one shall I leave if there shall only be one if I take myself out of this natural selection will I be protecting others or cause harm my mind dancing around pondering reality I hear thank you next not yet my turn I see the other participant leaving tears emptiness whose eyes used to sparkle now have lost their loving gaze I see the emergency exit the elevator continues to pull up and down cross my legs a tearful smile if I leave will I wonder what pulled me here to begin with I stand one foot before the next I walk the elevator haunts me is this where romantics come to die hopes dreams shattered I run triggered by the wait I run true love waits yet I'm impatient I run towards or away I'm unsure I run
