Pastel Memories
Tugging on memories Stained, in an old scrapbook, Revealing a time for me Where I always failed to look. It's starting to rain outside, We're together as stowaways On this voyage of neon lights Heading to a better place. Please - draw with me, A boat, in a sea, And a sun setting on maroon, A reality, Where an "I" turns to "We", Our life in a small cocoon. I guess it'll be our endeavour, Let's rock our boat together, We'll breathe in the now and forever, Come with me, baby, We'll sketch pastel memories. Tugging on times gone by, There's never a how or a why, All these letters of yesterday, Rubbed out the day I saw your face. And sure, outlines remain, That's the price we all have to pay, But you teach me something new: To grin in the face of truth. Please - run with me, And make me believe In a fire that's ours to light. A reality, Completely carefree, To admire from dizzy heights.
