Painting the sunset
The sun melts gold Through leaves and branches and Tall grasses that reach Towards the clouds The cicada orchestra sings today As yellow stripes paint the day Shades of green and brown In the garden of Eden Hand in hand, laughter echoes You and I as the day Ages and the last light Embraces the earth The painter now paints the sky In hues of purple, red, and orange While the cicada orchestra Concludes their final performance And here in the sunset You and I sit, completely lost And the sun sinks deeper behind The horizon to make way for the moon In the darkening sky
