Overcast
Overcast by Jack A.S. Dunce I woke with hopes to see blue skies again. I thought it was promised by the faint light That bled through curtained windows of my room, And made the confined darkness shimmer out. A flood of light rushed through the open door; My eyes closed shut from the forgotten pain, I thought was buried deep in sands of time. How long has it been since I saw the sun? I hoped my eyes would get accustomed soon, To bravely face the day from dawn to dusk Without the need for tint to shield my eyes And see beyond the sea of grey and black. Alas, when I opened my eyes again, The heavy clouds completely hid the skies And only opaque light could fill the world. It seemed I just stepped out into my room. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 05/20/2025
