ouroboros
we're best friends ur mind says we're potential worst enemies I know your darkest secrets ur mind says I'm just biding my time we sit laughing, recollecting a fun jab turns into a gaping wound damn me for teasing damn me for relaxing a twist of my words and ur face goes dark trust disappears into seething contempt where did my friend go built up grievances unearth between us forming a wall I pound and kick trying to break through u stand above asking why I don't care why don't I try harder I pound and kick I feel ur blame stacking above me I pound and kick I hear all the ways I'm not enough why I hurt her so I collapse, surrounded by the bricks of my horded mistakes I have to protect myself somehow I resign myself I build a wall no longer in view u look for ur target u jump from ur wall looking for what u lost u recognize something in the rubble u run to help digging me out u question more why didn't I know the right words to say why do I let this get so bad tired, I nod and admit my guilt agree I'm insensitive agree it won't happen again agree to anything u pull me up hands clasped limping to the horizon try not to notice the endless field of walls behind us or the walls looming in the distance
