Our Own Lives
We all have our own stories. Our own scars, trauma, and pain And yet we compare to others' glories How could something be so plain As if we put ourselves in a box Measuring up to others is how we thrive Waiting for something else to unlock Is this how we are to really survive I remember never being good enough Someone was always better than me How come I never caught their bluff I am my own person, who I'm meant to be Compare me to someone else I dare you to find someone who had my life And you will see the price of their wealth You will see that they too held a knife We all have our own stories Our own trauma, pain, and scars But look at anyone, we all share some glories We have our own path, no matter the cause Stop comparing to others They don't know you and you don't know them We will see them as our sisters and brothers And only then will life truly begin.
