One's Beloved
I don't want to breathe ever again Unless it's your scent I smell And I'll hold my breath Until I go brain dead If you make me I can't ever hold another hand Unless it's your hand in mine Even if it's cold, Even if I get frostbite, I'll keep you warm I couldn't ever dream of another's lips Solely because I only ever wanted yours And though I dread the dreams you haunt They're still the warmest, most comforted I've ever woken from a nightmare I'll never hold another in my arms Unless it's your bones I feel on my palms Even if the bullet passes through us both It'll be the sweetest bullet That's ever pierced my skin I can't fall asleep to any song That isn't one leaving your mouth Even if you chuckle over the words And spoil the rhythm It lulls me to sleep just as well I vow to never sing of another's laughter All because yours is deafening Compared to the rest Leaving me faint, bloodless, And paralyzed Lastly, I won't ever look at you again Not as you pass by, Not as you speak to me, Not as I scream and cry for you, And not as you ever scream or cry for me.
