One Last moment
I could have stayed, just one more day, And set the world aside, in disarray. To look into your eyes once more, And find the love I’ve known before. One last kiss, a simple gesture, That carried the weight of endless treasure. One final hug, to hold you near, To feel the warmth I can’t hold here. I could have listened to your voice, The stories you told, the wisdom, the choice To sit with you, to hear it all— The years of life, the rise and fall. I could have tasted the meals you made, The food that spoke of love, unsaid, Each bite a memory, rich and deep, A legacy I now long to keep. But I didn’t know how fleeting time could be, How every moment could slip from me. I thought I had forever, thought I had more, But time is cruel, it takes and soars. I was caught in the rush, in the endless race, Chasing dreams while I lost your face. Now the silence echoes, and all I have left, Are fragments of moments, of love bereft. How I wish I could turn back the tide, To sit by your side, to feel the pride Of knowing you were there, so real, so true— To hold you, to tell you how much I knew.
