Once
Once, I stood tall with dignity, Once in love, I felt complete. Every part of me worked together, But now I'm scattered, lost in a forest Where baboons roam and baobabs loom. Back in my room, I stand by the window, Wrapped in a blanket, wondering why I ever loved, why I ever trusted. Now, I feel disconnected, like I'm fading away. Yet, I hold onto hope for better days, When I'll find myself again, And what I gain will outweigh what I've lost.
