On the Brink of Demise - Part
To rise at dawn to the birds’ sweet song, Oh, how I’ve wished for sleep all night long! "Wake up! School’s calling!" Mom shouts from the hall. And I, half-asleep, mutter: "This will be the death of me after all!" I stumble from bed, and then it all starts, My morning routine, though I’m playing the part— A walking zombie, just trying to survive. "Hurry up! You’re too slow!" I hear my Dad drive. My eyes roll back, a soft sigh escapes my chest, The next thing I know, I’m put to the test— Hard on the floor, in a painful sprawl, Scraped knees and palms, the price of the fall. The blood rushes to my face, my eyes burn with fire, Met by my brother’s smirk—his favorite desire. With a crooked grin, he bolts for the door, Locked in the bathroom. I can’t take anymore! "Hurry up! I don’t have time for your games!" I pound on the door, calling him names. His voice echoes back: "Don't worry, there's plenty of time!" Frustration is peaking, a mountain to climb. Drowning in anger, I hear his advice: "Chill out, walk the dog, just try to be nice!" Of course! How could I forget my plight? I haven’t even had my morning coffee tonight!
