Old Oak Tree
oh, how I long to be an old oak tree, situated deep in a forgotten wood— a resting place for God’s creatures, arms ever stretched toward heaven, giving praise to the One who spoke my beauty into being at the dawn of all things. My soul would savor endless observation of untouched creation. Tough I would be, strong I would be, my rings innumerable— to be fruitful and beautiful my only charge.
