Oh Guilty Heart
Oh guilty heart, burdened with shame, Your heavyweight no one can tame. You bear the weight of mistakes past, They haunt you like a shadow cast. You rue the day you let them in, The choices made, the path of sin. Regretful tears fall from your eyes, As you hear the echo of your lies. The guilt you carry is like a chain, Tied to your spirit, causing pain. You wish you could turn back time, Undo the wrong, make it right in rhyme. But alas, the past is set in stone, And you must face it all alone. Let not the guilt consume your soul, Redemption is within your control. Seek forgiveness from those you've hurt, Let love and kindness be your assertions. Learn from the mistakes you've made, Let your guilty heart slowly fade. For in the darkest of nights, The dawn will bring new light. And though the guilt may never part, You can still heal your guilty heart.
