Ode to the Shadows
In the quiet of my birthday’s gloom, A candle flickers, a waning bloom. The darkness calls, a whispered plea, A haunting echo, a part of me.The clock ticks on, a steady beat, Each second passing, a cold defeat. The cake sits still, untouched, alone, Like the hollow heart I've never shown. The blade of time is sharp and cold, Carving scars that never grow old. Yet here I stand, on the edge of night, Wrestling with shadows, longing for light. But light, it fades, and shadows creep, In the silent depths where secrets seep. So I blow out the flame, make no sound, Wishing the darkness would just let me drown.
