Then a pincers' move began, set up by a bugler's call. From left and right the enemy ran, the forlorn troops within their maw. The generals on the forlorn side watched the hopeless as they died. They sent their orders to bombard the southwest wall, and very hard. The southwest wall withstood at first, but the defenders were dispersed. Through these efforts the generals knew, how the fortress could be subdued. The forlorn hope had shown the way; These gallant men who saved the day.
