Novocaine
Novoccaine. I was numb, empty, and wanting. I found myself walking along a trail of broken hearts with broken people. Novocaine. I worked harder each day, remembering who I was, who I am, and what I want. I finally found myself again at the end of my trail, and I thought the final broken-heart stepping stone was hers, but now I fear it's mine. Novocaine. You numb my pain, you numb the hurt I've told myself that I don't have. You're like a drug, a narcotic; addictive, dangerous, beautiful. Novocaine. I find myself ready for someone, ready for you, ready to break my rules, yet you aren't mine. This fall is bound to be the worst, bound to hurt and leave me numb again. Like novocaine.
