not so happy ending
I came to you with an open heart, Hoping it may be a moment we could share. Neither for pity nor for a plea, But that you may see the depth in me. Of wounds I spoke, of battles unseen, Nights when silence grew and became mean. The burden carried, I bore alone, In hope my truth someday would be known. Yet, I have learned that love cannot be compelled; Love flows its way, its obstinate course. And though I stood, my heart exposed, Your answer has left this chapter closed. There are words I couldn't say to Maa, Her warmth, her love—my eternal star. But to you, I spoke with a trembling voice, And now I walk away, by choice. My suffering is mine, a shadow I bear, Not yours to shoulder, not yours to share. Death may call, and I won't resist, For in its silence, I may find bliss. But let this truth be known, as I set you free, I held no hatred; I could only set it free. 'Cause it is a heartbeat that dares to beat since it was broken long ago, It's the dignity, guided by those very weary feet. This is my good-bye, my final decree To love and loss, and what might have been; May your route be lighten'd, the skies always bright, And I shall then disappear, unhindered, void of fright. -Kashish Anita Chaudhary
