"Not Mine to Mend"
I tried so hard to understand, To hold their pain with trembling hand. I spoke with care, I stayed so near, Yet nothing changed, year after year. I gave them chances, gave my voice, But healing never was their choice. I fought for peace they wouldn’t see, And lost the part that once was me. They stayed the same—stuck in their ways, While I kept breaking through the days. No matter how I tried to show, The love they need, they won’t outgrow. So here I stand, both hurt and free, From battles that weren’t meant for me. I couldn’t change what wasn’t mine— Even the sun can’t make stone shine.
