Not a Grandmas job
No cape, no crown, no easy way— She took the roles that weren’t hers to play. She stood where others wouldn’t dare, With steady hands and endless care. Life left holes too big to hide, She filled the cracks, stood by my side. Not just a grandma, soft and sweet, But both the arms I needed to meet. She taught me how to fight and stand, Held me close, took my hand. Fixed my shoes, chased away fears, Wiped the stains of too many tears. No “dad” to catch me when I’d fall? Granny caught me through it all. She worked and prayed, never gave in, A battle fought, a love to win. She wore two hats with quiet grace, A guiding light, my safest place. Not just a “Granny,” more than that— My rock, my shield, my habitat. This wasn’t a grandma’s job to do, But she made it hers, strong and true. So here’s to her, my heart, my guide, Who stood for both, stood strong with pride.
