Nostalgia (P2 of 2)
(Continued from P1) She slowly turned to me again; her thoughts somewhat restored. Then she asked me if I knew when he'd be coming in. I told her that I didn't know, Would she leave a message then? She said, "Oh no! Never mind, I lived next door in years gone by. And I thought while I was back in town, I just wanted to say hi." Well, you coulda' floored me with a feather, doncha' know! 'Cause I knew she was my girl next door from 20 years ago! And then I sat there numb like I was glued tight to the floor, As she turned away and walked out the barroom door. We hadn't recognized each other, but that's not as nutty as it sounds. 'Cause she had become a lovely lady, and I'd gained 200 pounds!
