No Real Heal
there was a young buck that lived near my childhood home. he would leap and bound, his broken hind leg swinging behind him. my mother would avert her eyes, seeing a creature in pain was too much for her. I would watch him prance off, wondering if he even felt the leg anymore. I wondered what caused him to be this way, was he harmed or born this way? did he come out with that useless limb, or did a car hit him, snapping bone and bleeding wounds? I wanted to find him, to set and bandage the leg he would never be able to use. at least if he were placed under the guise of healing, my mother wouldn't look away.
