no longer Open
In my heart's doorway, he held the key, Unlocking emotions, setting me free. But as he stepped inside, oh so bold, My heart rebelled, its story untold. With every beat, it pushed him away, Aching to keep emotions at bay. He found himself locked out, unsure, No longer welcome, love's sweet allure. His presence faded, like a distant dream, I closed the door, it seemed extreme. But my heart had reasons, aches to mend, For it couldn't trust, couldn't comprehend. No longer did he hold the key, To the depths of my heart, once so carefree. The door now shut, he stays outside, As my heart seeks solace, a quiet hide. Though the love may have faded, it's true, I'll keep the key, for someone new. But until then, my heart remains free, Guarding its secrets, cautiously. For in the casual rhythm of life's fleeting dance, Sometimes hearts close, seeking another chance. And as time passes, wounds may heal, Unlocking a love that's raw and real. I may have let him in but now he doesn't have the key to get back in.
