Nightly Plunge
A push that leads to the plunge, sinking souls deep down to the ocean floor— not for asylum, but to calibrate the new pressures that life may bring. My heart pounds in the depths, and my vision, blurred by the freezing water. Where's my center? That shining Sun that draws my shadow onto the floor. Rising to the top, the air is free and flowing. My muscles sink from the heavy pulls of the murky waters below, but my muscles reclaim them, and push them back into shape. The water is jealous, and calls me back at night. My muscles tense up, knowing that the day will come short, and the night will rise once again. The bugle sounds from the malnourished seagulls, blaring out through the air. My sentence is set, and I will return to the unknown place that calls me by my name.
