New Year
"It's New Year!" they cheer, "What's your goal this year?" "Your resolution, your plan?" they persist, But I can't grasp the strength to resist. Shut up! Is what I want to scream, Don't have bright goals, Not even a perfect dream. I'm lazy! I'm tired! I'm worn! For in this twist of life, I feel torn. I don't have goals, can't list a set No bringing ambition, not even a motivation. Let alone giving it a try, For even taking a one step closer is as hard as trying to reach the sky. I don't know my goals anymore, I don't know my purpose —or do I really have one? Do I belong in this race? Questions swirl as the answers evade In this chaos, where everyone is sane, I feel frantically afraid. I just… I just want peace, A moment of release, A moment of silence, To quiet my mind, Leave the chaos behind. Peace—that's all I need. A word where my calm to keep, A quite corner where I can weep.
