New Moon
No, I don't cry for the new moon. Yes, her face does refuse to shine. But she isn't lost, I know she's there And in next cycle will return. Moon still flies to race the dawn, To be away before it comes. To once more smile upon the earth; To stay in stealth to flee the sun. New Moon is a warrior brave of old, And aloof, as most always heroes are. But soon, the day will bring the glow As for many eons it has done. So, when time accrues, the month inclines And full, Moon will brighten cloudless nights. Yet, still far distant is her face, and cold, But no longer darkened by earth's shadow.
