My Truest Friend.
In the mirror, I see a face, A boy who's won life's complex race. Trophies gleam and medals shine, Yet, deep inside, this heart is mine. I've scaled the peaks, touched the sky, Still, there's a whisper, a quiet sigh. Success, they say, should bring me cheer, But shadows linger, drawing near. The cheers have faded, crowds disperse, In quiet rooms, I find my verse. Loneliness, a friend I know, In its embrace, I softly grow. Smiles are masks, they come and go, Only the night, my heart does know. In darkness, tears and whispers blend, In solitude, I find my friend. They call me strong, they call me bright, But sadness is my truest light. A bittersweet, familiar balm, In sorrow's arms, I find my calm. For in this ache, I’m truly seen, A soul that feels, a heart that's keen. In sadness, I am understood, In its depths, I find my good. So let the world admire my feat, In silent sorrow, I find retreat. For though I've won, I've lost the game, In sadness, I embrace my name.
