My Stupid Heart
I swore I’d never feel this way, After storms that broke my skies, But here I stand, a fool again, With hope behind my eyes. I stitched the seams of old wounds shut, Said goodbye to what I knew, But love, it crept in silently, And here I am—caught too. It whispers like a friend to me, But laughs behind my back, For every time I fall again, It lays me on the rack. I feel so foolish, chasing light Where shadows always hide, Giving pieces of myself To ones who stand aside. Was it hope or just a dream That led me here again? To feel so stupid for wanting love, In places it won’t begin. But though I fall, though I ache, This heart will never lie, It’s foolish, yes, but maybe brave, For trying one more time.
