My Regret
In shadows cast by my regret, I struggle to admit my wrong, As whispers of despair beset, I know I let you down along. These words you say, they pierce my soul, Each syllable a piercing knife, A bitter truth that takes its toll, A haunting refrain, my heart in strife. Sadly, I faltered, lost my way, And now the consequences loom, I can't escape the price to pay, For leaving wounds that still consume. I long to mend the shattered trust, To heal the wounds that I have wrought, But silence lingers, turns to dust, As my apologies fall short. Oh, how I wish to turn back time, To rewrite the chapters that have passed, To mend the bond, restore the rhyme, Yet these regrets, they hold me fast. So here I stand, with heavy heart, Acknowledging the pain I've sown, With tearful eyes and soul apart, I face the truth I've always known. I can't admit my wrong, it's true, But deep inside, I feel the weight, For letting down the one I knew, And leaving scars that won't abate. Sadly, my words can't heal the pain, Yet I will strive to make amends, And pray forgiveness will remain, As this sad tale comes to its end. Romique
